You can create a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) in Bridge Compliance.

Note: You must have a log of every contractor or vendor who is handling your protected health information, along with a signed BAA for each.

Time to complete this requirement: 5-40 minutes (depending on the number of Business Associates)

Instructions

  1. Select HIPAA > Business Associates in the left menu.
  2. Click the Create New button in the upper right corner of the Business Associates screen to build a new agreement.
  3. Use the template to enter the following information about your Business Associate:
    • Company Name (required)
    • Contact Full Name (required)
    • Email Address (required)
    • Phone Number (required)
    • Street Address (required)
    • Line 2 (optional)
    • City (required)
    • State (required)
    • Zip Code (required)
    • Description of Services (required)
      Note: The details you provide here will automatically be inserted into the top of new BAAs, so it’s customized for each specific Business Associate.
  4. Click the Create button to save this information.
    You will return to the Business Associates screen, and the added Business Associate will appear in the log.

  6. Click on the Business Associate’s row to generate an updated agreement or upload an active one.
  7. On the Business Associate’s screen, the next actions you need to take depend on your situation.
    If you have an active BAA with the vendor: Upload it by clicking the Upload button > upload the already signed business agreement by using Click to upload or drag and drop > enter the Date of Signature > click the Submit button.
    To generate an updated BAA: Click Create New > enter your name and title (or the name and title of the HIPAA Officer) > enter the Business Associate’s first and last name, their title, and confirm the Send the Agreement auto-filled email address > preview the email the Business Associate will receive to review and sign the agreement > verify that all details and accurate > click Send.
